Waves of Hope, Waves of Change:
Dear 8th ICAAP Volunteer,
As you are aware the 8th International Congress on Aids in Asia and the Pacific
held at the BMICH in August 2007 brought together a broad spectrum of enthusiastic
volunteers from all walks of life. Overcoming differences such as age,
religion and gender many of you participated in what finally had become a
wave of change which extended beyond the shores of our island. Most signifi-
cantly, as you may know the dearth of experience and comradeship that was
established did not end with the closing ceremony of the 8th ICAAP. Therefore,
we at the Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka (FPA Sri Lanka) are of the
view that it is imperative that the gamut of knowledge which was accumulated
should not be contained within the walls of the BMICH.
With the experience you as volunteers gained from your participation at the
8th ICAAP and the tools you are now equipped with, our aspiration is to mobilize
all of you under one roof through a virtual organization. With this aim in
mind, supported by the 8th ICAAP Trust and facilitated by FPA Sri Lanka the
launch of the 8th ICAAP Volunteer Movement is to be held on the 23rd of
August 2008, at the BMICH – Committee Room C at 9.30 am. We have the pleasure
of inviting you to volunteer and be part of this committed and innovative
movement by logging onto our website www.fpasrilanka.org/icaap8volunteers
and create an account for yourself and stay updated of the latest developments.
Moreover, if you wish to obtain further information on the movement
please do not hesitate to contact us on our number 0112 555455/ Email -
icaap8volunteers@fpasrilanka.org (please confirm your participation for the
Launch on or before the 11th of August 2008).
Change is Power. Do something. Be active.
