Waves of Hope, Waves of Change:
- The Volunteer Movement of the 8th International Congress on Aids in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) is being launched at the request of the volunteers who participated in the event last year.
- It proposes to be a National Volunteer Force/Movement which will function autonomously under the direction of the ICAAP Trust. The Movement will be facilitated by FPA Sri Lanka in order to provide various forms of voluntary assistance in whichever activities, events, and programs related to HIV/AIDS, in any part of the country.
- The date set for the official launch of the Movement is the 23rd of August 2008 which will provide a space and opportunity for volunteers not only to meet this year, but the following year as well.
- FPA Sri Lanka will facilitate the developmental process of establishing the framework for the movement, which will subsequently be taken over by the volunteers themselves.
- The Association is at the preliminary stages of preparing the framework, volunteer charter, constitution and other relevant matters.
- Interested individuals may join the Movement. However the Volunteer Committee will be selected by the volunteers after the 23rd of August once criteria, expectations and other relevant details are finalized.
- Once all details are confirmed, it will be uploaded on the 8th ICAAP Volunteer Movement website.
